These professional development materials are designed for school leaders, senior managers, literacy subject leaders or local authority advisers as they help teachers work collaboratively with colleagues to improve provision for Guided Reading within the school, in local clusters of schools or across the authority. The materials are planned to be used alongside the CDROM Guided Reading using Short Texts at KS2 which outlines some of the key issues involved in organising Guided Reading in the classroom at key stage 2. In order to cover the range of the primary phase, key stage 1 case studies and teaching sequences are included as Appendixes to these materials. Although the CDROM is aimed at years 3-6, there are relevant sections about classroom organisation, questioning and assessment for both key stages.
